How TunedWaves handles your data

Who we are
TunedWaves is made by Tuned Waves Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (SC897154). We are the data controller for the app and this website. Contact: hello@tunedwaves.com.
What we collect, and why
- Account basics — your email, handle and display name, and an optional profile photo. This is how you sign in and how friends find you.
- Your music activity — the dailies you post, waves you catch, songs you save and stations you build. This is the product working; without it there is nothing to show you.
- Approximate location, optional — a coarse area only, used so nearby waves are nearby and countries become planets in your galaxy. We never collect your precise location, never show you as a point on a map, and the app works with location off.
- Song identification audio — if you use the identify feature, a short audio sample is processed to recognise the song and then discarded. It is never stored and never sent anywhere else.
- Usage analytics — anonymous interaction events (PostHog) that tell us which parts of the app work and which don’t. No advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking.
- Crash reports — technical logs (Sentry) with identifiers scrubbed, so we can fix what breaks.
What we never do
- We never sell your data. To anyone. There is no advertising profile of you.
- We never collect precise GPS location.
- We never post anywhere on your behalf or read anything outside the app.
- Ghost mode means ghost: a ghost broadcast carries no identity to other listeners, ever.
Music playback
Full tracks play through your own Apple Music subscription under Apple’s terms; without one, songs play as 30-second previews. Apple processes your Apple Music activity as described in Apple’s own privacy policy — we only receive what we need to play what you chose.
Who processes data for us
Our infrastructure runs on Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (this website), PostHog (analytics) and Sentry (crash reporting), each under data-processing agreements. Transfers outside the UK are protected by standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep things
Dailies expire after 24 hours by design — expired dailies are not publicly available. Your account data is kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete it. Anonymous analytics are kept in aggregate.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or object to processing — email us and we’ll do it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) — though we’d appreciate the chance to fix things first.
Deleting your account
In the app: Settings → Delete account. It removes your profile, dailies, saves and listening history. No access to the app? See the delete account page.
Age
TunedWaves is not for children under 13, and signing up requires confirming you’re old enough.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll say so in the app before it takes effect — not bury it here and hope.
